Girton Colts FC is focused on providing match opportunities for players, which means that we support our teams from their inception to encourage growth into becoming competitive teams. We do this by following the FA restrictions on competitive play and team squad numbers, which does limit the amount of players we can accept per team. 

Our club is run by volunteers who give up their time to run the committee and manage teams. The amount of teams we have is only limited by the amount of managers and coaches that are willing to step forward to assist. If you're going to be watching your child play, why not get involved and manage the team!

We build teams at GCFC through our team builder structure, which consists of the following stages.

• A professional coach leads a weekly (term time) training session. 
• From this at least 2 (unrelated) adults will need to volunteer their time to manage and assistant manage the team. 
• The professional coach will help the volunteers over the course of a season to learn how to work with the players and assist with match techniques.
• All volunteers will have to be dbs checked and attend FA regulated courses for safeguarding for children, first aid and coaching skills. All are very straight forward and do not feel put off or daunted by this. 
• From as early as we are able to get a volunteer to lead, we can start organising friendly matches, which will involve our professional coach and volunteers working together. 
• Near the end of the season, if everyone is happy then we will register the team with the FA and they will compete in the next available season. 
• We are able to offer managers the choice of leading the team training themselves or assistance from a professional coach, but Saturday matches will always be volunteer led. 

Our current team builder opportunities are:

• Under 5 MIXED starts in Jan 2024 
• Under 6 MIXED Sundays 9-10am
• Under 7-9 MIXED Friday 5-6pm
• Under 10-12 MIXED Friday 6-7pm
• Under 7-11 GIRLS ONLY Monday 5-6pm

The team builders are based on half season membership. Link to Calendar page Term 1 is Sept to Dec £72, and Term 2 runs Jan to mid May £90. Included in the fees are use of Girton socks, shorts, t-shirt and rain coat, but you are expected to have your own shoes, thermals and shin pads. The sessions only run in term time.

• U15 Girls only, train Weds 7-8pm (yr9&10)
• U16 Mixed, train Thurs 7-8pm (yr10&11)
• U8s Mixed, Train Wednesday 6-7pm (Yr 3)

We are always interested in hearing from any potential coach, manager or volunteer who would like to assist our club.

Coach / Manager interest form. Do you fancy helping one of our teams form or grow? We are always on the look out for people interested in taking on the role of manager / coach or assistants too. We offer great support from Level 2 coaches that we have at Girton who are able to assist teams get off the ground, so its not as daunting as you might think. If you are coming to watch your child play, why not get involved and build proper memories!

Referee and match official opportunities. The supplied referees we are given from the local FA are few and the ones they do have are often called out to referee higher league matches. So we decided to create our own bank of referees that we regularly call on to referee our home matches. We offer official FA training, without having to referee across the county every weekend.. you can just come to Girton. All matches we offer payment to referees, so enquire today! You must be 15 and over to referee.
